300,000 Active Card Rentals on Splinterlands Rental Market
Within a month and a half of the opening of the Splinterlands rental market, it has grown expansively, and now sees over three hundred thousand active rentals. This growth is literally proving difficult to keep up with for me, as I originally drafted this post for when we hit 200,000, but had to update it because we blew right past that number before I finished penning the piece. By the time I'm getting to post it this morning, we're already nearly to 315,000.
Renting out your cards is worth more than ever
Card holders are now making over $22,000 every day in combined revenue from the thousands of players eager to access their cards. This annualizes to more than $8,000,000 that our renters will make in one year, if numbers remain stagnant. Renting is a great option for those who have grander card collections than they have free time with which to battle, and offers passive income with a very limited ongoing time commitment. Especially rare gold foil cards seem to be well placed to make their owners a pretty penny in rent, but even common and less expensive cards are adding up to make it worthwhile for many to list cards on the market.
Renting cards from cardholders is easy and can be inexpensive
With hundreds of different, unique card types to choose from -- each offered in a variety of levels from a multitude of renters -- players can expertly curate their personal playing decks. And this ease and variety doesn't have to come with a big sticker price. Although more expensive cards are available for the players wishing to significantly up their game, more than 300 of the cards on the rental market are listed for less than $0.01 per day. At those prices you could have the use of any of them for a year for under $5.00. Alternatively, given that you can switch rentals every 24 hours, you could play with a different card each day for an entire year, also for under $5.00. Players can plan their gaming around long-term rental strategies, or else try out a variety of cards before committing to purchases on the secondary market.
The Rental Market provides value for all
No matter where you are on the spectrum -- whether you own more cards than you can play, are just getting stated and want to jump start your decks, or fall somewhere in the middle -- the Rental Market can offer you great bang for your buck. It's easy to list cards for rental, rent cards out and cancel your rentals, and the entire system is trustless.
Additionally, the fact that new players can so easily get in on the action makes our game more attractive to the wider world, and may be part of the reason why new accounts and Spellbook purchases have been so exponential right now. And that's good news for everybody.
If you haven't checked out the rental market yet, swing by and take a look. You might find the perfect card you've been looking for, or you might discover a new income stream:

The market will 10x September... I got 10 Living Lava cards last week, now that stack is worth nearly $50!.
Who ever thought of this rental system is genius. It is another way of encouraging new players to build their deck so that they could move to higher leagues.
As a very late entrant to the game, I must say that I probabaly wouldn't even have considered stzrting the game without the possibility to rent cards. This is a game changer, as even with very limited money to start playing, you can quickly get better cards as cheap-ish rentals, and afford to go up in the leagues. It's great for everyone, developers, rental markets, lenders and gamers
You been good mate? Haven't seen you post in quite some time. Just checking to make sure all is well.
