SPS Governance Proposal - Hire Steem Monsters Corp. To Build Card Burning Event & Provide Riftwatchers Packs as Prizes
6fe5b90193467be52e2cb34f7509cf2993bdf6c7
The Splinterlands team requests that the SPS DAO hire Steem Monsters Corp. to build and launch a new promotional event within the Splinterlands game to encourage players to burn cards, DEC, and Voucher tokens in order to help work through some of the excess supply currently in the ecosystem and provide more value to the assets over the long term.
The team is asking for a payment of $100,000 ($100k) from the DAO, payable in USDC or USDT tokens, to develop and operate the promotion, in addition to 25,000 (25k) Riftwatchers booster packs to use as prizes for the event. Please note that the DAO currently holds just over 200k Riftwatchers packs.
In addition to the Riftwatchers packs, the Splinterlands team is planning to provide the following prizes from its own wallets for the event (nearly $100k worth at current market prices):
- 500 PLOT tokens
- 100 Alpha packs
- 250 Beta packs
- 500 Untamed Packs
- 50 Essence Orb Packs
- 100 Azmare Dice Packs
- 500 Nightmare Packs (Soulkeep)
- 10,000 Chaos Legion Packs
- 20 Runi NFTs
Finally, on top of all of the prizes listed above, we also plan to award the following in-game titles to participants based on their leaderboard position at the conclusion of the event:
- 1-10 - "The Burninator" Legendary Title
- 11-60 - "The Incinerator" Epic Title
- 61-200 - "The Scorcher" Rare Title
These are the same titles that were awarded for the first burning event last year and we purposely only gave out a relatively small number of them last year so that we could continue to award them for future burning events.
Event Details
The event is planned to run for 30 days, during which time players will earn points for burning cards, DEC, and/or Vouchers. Every 10,000 (10k) points earned by a player will give them a chance at winning one of the available prizes, and the players with the most points in total at the end of the event will win the guaranteed leaderboard prizes.
Players will receive 1 point for each DEC burned, 50 points for each Voucher burned, and 2X the collection power / DEC burn value worth of points for any cards burned during the event. Additionally, we plan to include the same point bonuses for players who burn assets at the beginning of the event as we had for the burning event last year. This means that on the first day of the event, players will receive 3x points, and the bonus multiplier will decrease evenly each day until the last day when players will not receive any points multiplier.
Request for Funding
As mentioned above, Steem Monsters Corp. is requesting $100,000 ($100k) in payment from the DAO in order to develop and operate this event as well as to put up nearly the same amount in prizes from the company's wallets.
The company needs income in order to continue operating and rather than selling new products directly, which dilutes the existing assets and takes value out of the ecosystem, we feel it would be much better for everyone over the long term to have the DAO fund the development of features like this proposed burning event that will add value direcly to the existing assets.
We hope that the staked SPS token holders agree that this is a worthwhile use of DAO funds and that it will provide a large net gain to the overall value in the ecosystem over the long run.
Yoooo this is awesome!!! Super excited.
this is simply a terrible terrible use of a large portion of DAO funds. Good lord i hope people read this before hearting or voting it in.
why the hell is voucher and dec included
Exclude vochers or give them less value .
it s to much ,will take from cards burned.
I think burning cards only would work better.
Excellent proposal, this should be a no-brainer.
I want to be excited but the math just isnt mathing when including vouchers and dec. It also doesnt exactly make sense for us to burn extra CL cards for (most likely) more CL packs... Respectfully please try again
can't wait to burn cadrs
This event needs to be focused on cards and cards alone. Juice up the rewards for burning cards and let's get this supply under control.
EDIT: I've changed my mind on the burning event and made a new comment on the post if anyone cares to see my updated thoughts.
I would like to support the burning event and in fact I was excited to participate.
I thought we were going to be burning our cards/DEC/vouchers for a promo card and I was excited to have that dynamic.
I'm much less thrilled with this as a player and would only participate if I can arbitrage the assets based on my likely winnings (which I personally don't like to do as that's not fun).
I feel if this passes without a promotional card or two to buy with our points, then this will be counterproductive.
Agree with Dave here. Also, this implementation seems like a 95% copy of the previous burn event - what is the need for $100k? Is it to pay for developers? Or is the DAO essentially buying the SPL asset rewards from SPL?
I'd be much more excited for the DAO to pay SPL for this event if it included development of a unique promo card.
Yeah have to agree. Spending $100k to develop something that already exists seems like a bit of a stretch.
Personally, I'd like to see the DAO spending money on getting new players rather than squeezing the current assets into a smaller package.
We were planning to do a promo card sale in April for the Bitcoin halving which is why I didn't include promo cards as part of this event, however if the community would prefer this include promo cards I don't see any reason why we couldn't just have this event be the halving event and then include the promo cards. This would likely increase the payment amount we ask for though because promo card sales are an important revenue source for us.
This is what I personally would want to see, and I think its fair that if we are taking away revenue from you that it would be justified that we make the proper compensation. I don't know the numbers, but I trust you Matt!
I don't know about the numbers but I see it exactly as Dave. The promo card as a reward for burning makes it much more desirable to burn assets. I would like to see guaranteed promo cards for X amount of points, to reduce/remove the RNG from it. When I burn precious cards and tokens, I want to know what I am getting for it, instead of gambling and risking it all.
Combining it with the Bitcoin halvening sounds really cool. That puts a potential end of the event 2 months out.
If you need to increase the payment from the DAO in order to stay afloat longer, then I assume the community will understand and support that. Right now it sounds more like paying for something, that already kind of exists plus some assets. Supporting the company though puts it in a different perspective.
Same for me here. Just burning your gameassets for some random chance is something I would not participate in.
If its about a promo card Im 100% on board with burning some of my otherwise less useful cards.
This is the way, With guarantees on minimum levels got promo cards. This doesn't seem right and combing the two will make it a lot special/momentous
What made the last burning event a bit hit and success? I feel like we should model from that and slowly progress forward. The last thing we want is to possibly create even more inflation by giving away too much and not burning enough to cover the value.
I'd suggest removing vouchers and making cards more profitable to burn than DEC. As of now doing the math, I think this would basically burn a lot of reward card over supply and vouchers. I also think some sort of promo card would really increase the desire to participate, something like a vruz where pretty much anyone at any level could reasonably qualify to get a copy.
i agree. excluding the cl-packs and adding a common or rare promo card instead would make this event much more of a success.
I would think cards and vouchers should have more value against DEC
I would agree with this, a promotional letter would be interesting, but, for all levels, where anyone can participate without setting high standards or things that only the most interested parties can access. "Vruz is an excellent example.
Although another great thing is precisely to add value to existing assets that is not bad, for example, something that has me thinking, is that the older editions should generate more rewards than the new ones, but this is another topic.
Hard choice to make
I believe we all can see the value added to all assets in the game thought our choice in the vote
Peace
This makes no sense to me, not only will it drain 100k from the DAO funds but it will fight inflation with more inflation. A solution to burn cards and make sure the supply at least doesn't go up is to incorporate a card burn mechanic for unlocking Soulbound cards. Give them a status as a starter card which doesn't earn (preventing all the bots to milk rewards) with one of the requirements to unlock is to burn a similar type card. Also bringing back Collection Power at least in Wild is something that could help at least the demand for cards.
I think this burn/unbound mechanism is more long term and i really liked it
Another vote for adding a Promo card to the prizes. That will really encourage people to BURN!
I don't like this proposal, I feel like it's very circular. We are burning cards and burning assets to give away a bunch of packs which will wind up just making a bunch more cards. It will also likely lead to devaluing the rarer sets as we release packs from the rarer sets by burning the cheapest assets that players can.
Exactly, it would be way more efficient if 100k in stablecoins from the DAO was just used to buy the relatively cheapest cards on the market and burn them.
No. Cause i already have those assets and collections on max level and dont need them - especially all those early birds in SL have these collections already maxxed and playing with them day by day. It makes no sense to drop assets to people that are more or less worthless on the market, because no one of the actual players can afford to buy assets to just burn them and the old players dont need the assets the SL Company providing us.
Could you please explain in Details for what the 100,000 US Dollars are for? An Event like this can easily made by the SL Team on its own and dont need the DAO Money for it. At the very last, the DAO can maybe just decide to sponsor something on top. In the end of the Day it`s your responsibility of the Splinterlands Company to grow the game and maintain a healthy ecosystem. otherwise we can just close the doors.
$100,000 is for the prizes. DAO is buying the prizes from @splinterlands team. Development of the burn event is nearly free of charge.
In it's present form it is unlikely to get DAO support .
It will not get my vote in any form. I am failing to understand what are we paying $100K for? Burning cards is unnecessary at this point. Burning cards to get more cards is a circular argument and stinks of market manipulation.
If team like to get paid from the DAO I like to see a tangible new product that benefits the game. I wouldn't support a promo card either as a promo card is revenue generating product for the team.
Team need to stop giving away free cards.
I would encourage the team to seek VC funding, DAO can potentially help with that.
All in all, this proposal is not very innovative. Expected more from the team.
I totally agree, the game needs more players! needs ways to attract and retain both new and old players, we need a revamp of game modes, of guilds. I love splinterlands, but I confess that the self-cost to evolve the guild, the self-cost to maintain a higher link, with many potion rewards is discouraging.
Its a good idea if you share all these ideas with Matt directly as well.
I agree and I can. I am hoping since this is a pre-proposal post that Matt likely wrote himself, chances are that he will maybe read the comments?
agreed
I'm paying you in the form of more SPS dilution for the privilege of burning more of my own assets? I made the mistake of doing that DEC burn BS and didn't see shit for burning hundreds of thousands of DEC. I'm not falling into that trap again. I've been supportive of basically every initiative thrown at me, but now I'm starting to question this shit more and more.
I doubt it costs 100k to code a burn event considering they already have the framework in place from the DEC burn event. I feel like the delta is a desperation money grab for opex. I'd much rather them just be honest and ask the DAO for funding during rough times instead of this card burn event smokescreen for SPS dilution. This is yet another attempt to squeeze the decaying community instead of putting forth any meaningful effort to actual market the game (--oh yeah we fired the marketing guy, but ooh rah land).
Why would I hire Steem Monsters Corp to do anything outside of the roadmap, when they can't even fulfil the obligations they were ostensibly hired for (TD anyone)?
It's not only infuriating, there is signal in this type of behavior, like the flashing red lights type of signal.
actually looking back, that DEC burning event was one of my biggest personal SL related mistakes. I shouldn’t have participated in that. I don’t remember how much DEC I burned, 16M? Today my land plots remained deactivated because of that. Surely they didn’t force me, I did it, but I can also admit that was a mistake
Glad to read even you made mistakes my friend! No worries you will success or WE will :-)
16M?! That's nuts! Your competitiveness got the best of you?
I'm not burning a single card without any guaranteed rewards.
If you have 100,000 worth of assets, why not just simply sell the assets. Fund yourself with the assets you have. How many people outside of the top 200 will receive anything? How many new people will this event attract to the game? I don't see any new players running into this game buying up cheep cards, dec and vouchers, to burn them just to get these prizes that only the top givers with get. No thanks
If the assets are cards, they're not actually worth anywhere even remotely close to that $100k.
I really want to like this proposal, but all it would do is devalue the Riftwatcher cards that I already own. If I want cards, I can just use the DEC that I have to purchase them from the market. I've already sold out of all my extra Chaos Legion cards, so this burn event would completely miss me. But of course, I am just one person and I should consider the community as a whole.
I think the goal for the community should be to burn through the extra Chaos Legion cards and 2M+ packs currently in circulation. I don't think DEC or Vouchers should be included in this promotion. I also think it would be a huge mistake to value the Chaos Legion packs more than their current market price ~$1 USD. Most people bought these packs during the last winter/holiday sale for an effective price around $1.4 USD or less. It would be wrong to provide value above the already discounted prices people bought these packs for.
Finally, I understand the desire to pay the company for the promotional items used for this burn event, so I'm OK with using some of the stablecoins in the DAO to essentially pay for the company assets that will be used in the promotion (even when I will not benefit from this promotion at all). All this being said, I would support this proposal if it was only to burn Chaos Legion cards and Chaos Legion packs. All other assets should be left out of this promotion.
I'll be voting against this. The first DEC burn event was whale food and this one will be the same. No thank you.
this seems like an excessive amount of money to me. where are the costs?
I didn't do the math myself. Allegedly the prizes that are being given away are worth close to a $100,000:
No way. This events is just for the giant whale, not for normal players. Normal player as me, I need cards to play the game, not buy it and burn them.
In addition, after the last dec burn event, I didn’t get any rewards, and I won’t be fooled again.
These "whales" are always going to benefit more than "normal" players. Should we never do anything because they have significantly more assets?
We need a guaranteed promo card or two or participation will be very low. Preferably a common card given where 1 bcx is given for each 1000 points. That would equate to 1 maxed copy per 3333 rare Chaos Legion BCX burned, if done on day one. Maybe we could burn dec/vouchers for higher gold foil chances?
I'd also prefer it be only card burning. We could start with burning the 10k Chaos Legion packs that are meant to be prizes. No one wants 50k more bcx of CL cards out there.
I have no problem with the $100k. While I don't think it will cost that to reskin the old event, it seems more like that is just about putting some more cushion in the company coffers. If the team is going to keep coming after the stable coins in the DAO though, the DAO needs to figure out how its going to replenish those stablecoins without flooding the market with DEC and SPS.
mmm this is kind of disappointing, I was expecting more.
I was expecting a promo card that really motivated players to burn their cards.
I would ask to seriously reconsider this and add a promo card
Everyone need to look at that the philip-do account. [spoiler it's got 9 million BCX in reward cards] Just let that settle in. That is the sword hanging over this event. That is what the farms have done. Is everyone ready for this monster to eat all the rewards? Again??
There is the potential to lose even more to the extractors here if not careful. Maybe the ship has sailed on CL rewards and we just focus the burn on core sets. We need to think hard about what gets rewarded for this event.
I'm not sure I'm seeing the benefit here?
100,000+ in prizes of cards, land etc are going to be given out but what if we only burn 50,000 worth of assets. That means we just inflated everything again.
Personally I liked the burning of vouchers to get a card and thought that was going to be a thing at least once a year. If there's too much inflation well then simply reduce the inflation by a small amount like a bank does during slow times and then pick it up again when needed.
I'm failing to see the benefit here and maybe I'm missing something so I'd love to hear it better explained as to why this would be a good idea with how it's currently structured.
And why not just burn some or all of those packs and cards that have the DAO and Splinterlands Team so that the assets don't lose their value due to inflation? Why not make a point redemption system where we can access a promo card every x points instead of just "chances"? That way, I think players could access a card that gives them a gameplay differential, and can consider a reasonable burn level for each type of player, instead of just playing a lottery that doesn't make much sense if it doesn't contribute to improve the gameplay aspect or redistribute a smaller number of cards that maybe they already had.
Posting the inspiration for "the Burninator" just in case since kids these days:
Here is different CL card burning idea instead of an event that the DAO could pay for. If it won't work that's fine but I just want to get it off my chest. Change the numbers, modify it, pick holes in it, whatever - it's for discussion purposes.
This is the simplified version/non crafting version:
Create a rare and epic wagon that requires burning CL cards and it drops a number of BCX of a permanently soulbound epic or rare card.
It costs & works the same way & is on the same schedule as the current wagon except it drops BCX instead of chances (capped at 1 max level card) & it requires that you burn a number of CL cards of the same element as the wagons are dropping.
So for the rare wagon let's say it would require burning 20 common CL cards or 10 rare CL cards.
And you set it so the burning slots "meet a minimum requirement or better" meaning that if someone has a 26 BCX common CL card & he wants to use it for this it still works or if he bunches together 23 BCX in 4 slots it still works.
For the epic wagon likewise you could require burning 20 rare CL cards of the same element or 10 epic CL cards of the same element.
You can keep this up for as long as needed until you burn the amount of CL cards you want out of the system and stop it if the player base grows and needs CL cards and/or if land accelerates in use and gold CL cards are needed for land.
I feel this leaves a lot of options open to play with to increase the amount of CL cards getting burned. You can change the numbers around. You can make it so that if you want a guaranteed GF all the cards you burn have to be GF. You can make a special ability just for these cards that requires legendaries to get burned to craft it onto the card. There are so many options to play with and you don't have to call it a wagon.
My 2 cents.
Thank you for participating in SPS DAO Governance @splinterlands!

I don't like this proposal at all.
Why would I burn stuff I have for a chance to get stuff I do not even want?
None of those "prizes" are any use to a new player or those of us that are boycotting Wild, whilst missing it like hell, cos of the bot plague.
Also not clear if we have an excess of cards or a shortage of players?
Why exactly should the DAO pay 100k in stables for that?
it´s not the agreed area of responsibility of the DAO to solve oversupply made by the company, especially considering that most of the profit from those times hasn´t flown the the DAO but into side projects.
get real here, Matt.
I have no issue to vote on this. Hell, I would say transfer all the money from the DAO to the company if needed. I just want an honest and transparent leadership.
Burn stuff to MAYBE have a chance to win something? So i might burn 1 milion dec and end up with nothing
Also 100k to buy assets from the team seems just giving a cashout before prices collapse
Make it a fun game mode like conflicts.
Burned Souls
Are you unsatisfied with the performance of your monsters? Have they let you down again in battle? Rather than leave them unused for eternity in your dungeon (also known as the bottom of the pack!!), why not burn them instead in the Splinterlands Eternal Flame and collect their souls!! 🔥
What good are the souls of my most useless minions?
You can sell their souls to me of course, the Cross/Roads Demon!!!
... if you dare
Like all Cross/Roads demons, we are not to be trusted. We make deals for souls, and demons always win in the end.
I can promise you great things... If you are lucky...
... Anytime you make a deal with a demon you risk leaving empty handed!
But, what's the risk? It's not like you're selling your soul. Put the souls of your most incompetent minions to use!
If you are a new sorcerer trying to rise the ranks, this event is for you.
Swap your dead weight for a new formidable monster. For every x souls you bring me, I guarantee you in return 1 common Ghoul monster. Maybe you win the deal today, but I know you won't be a minnow forever. I know you'll be back one day to make a new deal. I get everybody in the end...
(someone smarter at math figure out ideal souls to get the reward card. For sake of simplicity I will say 1000 souls but change it).
But wait. There's more.
I'm after you big fish. Dolphins, Tuna, Whales? Whatever.
Wouldn't you rather a bigger prize?
What good is a common card to you?
If you can afford to take the risk, why not make a different deal with me, the Cross/Roads Demon?
To swap 1000 souls for the common card, anybody can do that... New players can drag these souls kicking and screaming to me.
... But to carry more than 1000 souls at a time, that's no easy feat. You will need to store them in decanters and transport them in wagons. If you are too impatient to use the free method 1000 souls at a time, if you want to make thousands of deals at at time for a chance at the big prizes, it's going to cost you exponentially more than those minnows. You will need to stock up for this convenience.
There's no work around. To make the big deals you need to bring more souls.
Fill a decanter with 1000 souls. A wagon can hold 5 decanters. Bring these to me, then roll the dice for a slim chance of a great prize!!!
The odds of winning are extremely low.
The Cross/Roads Demon always wins in the end.
These prizes are as rare as totem fragments.
But with great rarity comes great value and bragging rights.
(Someone add some smart math. A lot of souls for chance of rare, meaning you burn them for a roll and could get nothing. A lot more for an epic roll. A big bajillion million for legendary roll. )
Then if you do win a card, you have the choice to stop or keep rolling to turn it gold. If you lose the card is burned right before your eyes and you get nothing. If you win you only get the gold card. Make the odds hard, that Cross/Roads Demon be nasty!!!
(Someone smarter figure a price for decanters. Idea is cards are burned for souls which can guarantee a prize or you can choose to roll. DEC is burned to buy single use decanters (the cross road demon keeps these, he can't have souls flying all around, and he needs to smash and destroy them to get the souls out). And burn vouchers on wagons, but phew at least you get to keep wagons and also use them in conflicts. Good news, the little guys don't need this extra stuff if they just go for that common card 1000 souls at a time.)
Best of luck to you,
The Cross/Roads Demon
That's a rough draft, give it a go!!!
Mwahaha!
Unless cards are 4x CP this is not going to get the amount of bulk commons off the market that we need. 2X CP isnt even competitive with market prices. We need to get anyone selling under 4 cents to capitulate.
After the post comments (particularly @azircon's point about team revenue being priority) and the TH yesterday, I think SPL should focus on selling the Promo and keeping all the revenue for the team.
While the burning event could or could not be good, I think its more important right now for Splinterlands Inc to get the money from the promo sale, and thus do the halving promo directly without the DAO involved. Here are factors in my decision:
1 - SPL gets 100% of the Promo sales and that is something I think is important
2 - the card burning event has some negative pushback from players for 3 reasons:
3 - I think Splinterlands team can restructure the card burning event easily into the future when there's not a conflict with selling a promo card
4 - I believe many of the other changes with the New Player Experience are very positive and powerful, thus the card overhang problem is miniscule in comparison
5 - I think Splinterlands can make the card burning event much better with more input from players as well as the team (I personally have many thoughts to help improve it)
So while I think having a promo card is good in terms of making the card burning event fun, I also believe that smart thing to do is let the Splinterlands Team run their business first and get their own revenues, and focus on reducing an oversupply later on a restructured burning event (which will give the added benefit of making it even better and more exciting).
I've shared my thoughts with @yabapmatt and no matter how this works out I'm still very excited for the future!!! I've been here 6 years and plan on being here quite a bit longer! :)
Hello, im missing some context, no revenues to pay team salary?
Hey David, SPL has money in the bank from the sales of packs of course, so they have that for their operating expenses (including salaries). But Yabapmatt said that SPL counts on the sales of Promo cards to supplement their regular pack sales as part of their normal operating process.
So they do have money to pay salaries, my point is I would prefer that they continue selling the Promo cards to continue to fund their company as opposed to giving those cards to a burning event (at this point in time).
In other words, I think the SPL team has been very generous with the SPS DAO for a long time, so its time they put their financial needs first. We can certainly wait on the burning event, its not something that is crucial at this time imo.
I get your point and i totally agree with it
My concern with this burn event is the amount of reward cards the bot farms have managed to acquire. Would anybody else even be able to get close on the leader boards when these people start burning their reward cards? Is there any way to cut them out (I can't think of one personally)?
This hasn't really been raised as an issue so maybe I'm missing something here? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts @davemccoy as I always value your opinion on these types of things.
I don't think you can build it to get a particular group of players involved. That's what a lot of players are talking about, the bot farmers will be the primary participants of this particular burn structure. (or they will sell to the humans players that want to participate).
That's why I'm not really in a rush myself, I don't mind those reward cards they own being cheap and I see no reason to rush and spend $100k from the DAO to get rid of these cards.
Thanks for your reply, Dave. I think I might sit this one out, land has sapped most of my spare cards and Dec anyway 🙂
It sucks we have to think that way, though. Can't do x because it would benefit bots too much. No regard for whether or not it would also benefit players. I think someone just needs to hard fork the game and create a new one where one has to prove who they are and can only have verified accounts if one want to earn anything. One cannot make a system where people can earn anonymously with no limit to the number of accounts they can make and expect it NOT to be exploited the way it has been. Idk. It's just exhausting. I don't want to care about this game anymore. haha. It feels almost exactly like a relationship that needs to end.
I would rather use all these assets being given away for future Splinterfests prizes and prizes for any events for the various games coming to arcade colony in order to promote/get more people into the game.
You need a lot more Westerners to join the game because that is where your $ comes from not human calculators from the developing world in Asia that scholar and then use their profits to multi account camp in lower leagues ruining the game for all the new players coming in from the western world. Right now ranked is a math contest with Asia versus "pay to win."
You've somewhat addressed this with all the new changes coming up but that's not enough in my opinion. There needs to be factions, emotional investment, PVE, human factors, etc.. that divides players based on something in the PVE story line. Not West with the money versus the East human calculators.
If we are trying to burn vouchers then bring more utility to vouchers and give those who always have too many (SPS whales) a way to easily sell them to players that do not have enough by putting them on the SPL secondary market instead of the convoluted HIVE engine.
If we are trying to burn all the old masses of reward cards that are in bot farm accounts
what if you just continue on and ignore those? Didn't a past change we made trigger some bot farms to do a mass card burn? I remember there was a mass burn of those from a bot farm account in the past after a change we made. What if when the grain LP's come online these farm accounts decide to mass burn those and buy grain while it is still super cheap and put both sides of that into the LP's?
If we are trying to burn the CL packs/cards I've suggested an alternative but maybe that is not needed.
I don't like this proposal,so.... NO !!!
100k$ "to develop and operate the promotion"?! Are you serious?!
Gosh, if "the company needs income" give ppl smth they would love to pay for.
Do we really need another potlatch with "chances to win"?
What measures will be taken to protect players with fewer resources?
I don't see a need for the burn event to run in this fashion. Why not make it easy and just have the DAO pay the game to make us a promo card that you get for burning cards? x amount of burned Regular Foil Collection Power equals 1 Regular Foil BCX and x amount of burned Gold Foil Collection Power equals 1 Gold Foil BCX. I feel it's better to use the prizes listed in this proposal to attract new players in some other way. I would also keep the Halving Promo card separate from this since the game needs to earn money from that.
I'd be happy if I could burn my SoulBound cards for some sort of token like merits that can only be used to obtain SoulBound cards. I feel like maybe that's the only way forward. Then people can still trade and do what they want with their collection, but they can never "cash out." It's just good for leveling up other rewards cards, basically.
Not a fan of it. Honestly feels like Splinterlands trying to get liquid funds from assets that are already in the dumps. Plus there's no guarantee that we will burn $100,000 in assets simply to replace it with $100,000+ in assets being given away so it honestly makes no sense to me. Plus as others have stated the things being given away a vast majority of people already have maxed out since they are crazy over inflated already. Need to go back to the drawing board on this one and come up with unique assets even if it's just a new card. The goal is to remove more value then put back in which is going to be tricky with a burn event. What made the last one such a big hit? Model the success and slowly build on it.
I voted for this.
I can see from the comments that a lot of people are not for this proposal, so I don't see it passing.
I voted yes as the prizes are supposed to be worth 100k, so I figure that the $100k that Splinterlands is asking for is so that they don't continue to give away their assets for free. I feel like that makes sense since the game is trying to keep growing.
Maybe people would be happy if the cost to the DAO was less or maybe people just don't want a burn event at this time.
Let’s just be honest here. The game is a pos. The mechanics suck. You’re going to win 50/50 as the mechanics will always find some bs reason for you to magically land around this number unless you’ve completely paid into the game to cover every possibility. If not good luck. You’ll be matched against someone who has the cards to beat you with the ruleset that completely favors the cards you have over the cards you don’t have yet to trick you into thinking “if I just bought more cards I could win more.” Even then after buying all the cards you have to deal with the stupid miss/hit rate and somehow the speed diff adding an extra 10% miss chance on a typical stat that is used for determining who attacks first. So not only do you get the buff of going first but you now have the added incentive of making someone miss. This is why people stack speed and they have to come up with dumb rulesets like slow or poison to counteract it. Which in turn nullifies all the money you poured into your deck and someone who just so happens to have crappier cards wins because their cards move slower because they haven’t invested to level them up.
This game and the developers suck. Take your money out of this game, you’re not going to make or “earn” anything. They’re just trying to get you to pay more in to line their pockets just like this dumb proposal. So glad to see people have a brain and voted this down. Get your money out or at the very least spot putting money in.
This has been a public service announcement. Thanks!
Would prefer to see a burn event that provides something like Merits ber BCX (maybe different amounts per BCX based on rarity/set/foil); this way ecosystem wouldn't be diluted by other SPL assets & provides value back that everyone can participate by allowing people to buy soulbound gladius chests & "worst case" scenario burned for DEC (which can be done anyway with the cards that exist) to use throughout the rest of ecosystem if not just used to lvl up soulbound gladius cards. Maybe a bloodlust promo card to go along with it for the team to earn some revenue of course but you have to burn cards for points for the ability to unlock purchasing/minting each BCX from team. Idk something along those lines - trying to think outside the box.
Doing affiliate links all together would make this easily I do this my self and it is a better solution than almost any of the things if you look at it in money terms it wont even compare. I mean my friend did deff not all of them and paid for his corvette and I've been doing it for over a decade bc you can literally repeat these if you keep track in Trello close when your allowed then set the reminder to open again and get the bonus a second, third , fourth. I've done m and t for 200 like 12 times now lol. There is also the fact I receive exactly the same amount as everyone all together which I would put toward it minus like 10% for my compensation as I needed to pay myself if i do it my self so that still needs to happen and it should not even be a thing bc technically half is mine I'm just giving it to the DAO or where ever we decide it will make the most diff. This stuff is really lucrative when you have a group of ppl doing it toward a common goal then its not annoying bc it will do quite a bit to help out depending on how many ppl have a open mind to try it.
My friend Jay finally did this year and he got his corvette with it so it does work lol.
If we all plan a day like a few weeks out and get to gather as many bonuses, cc bonuses, brokerages , etc as possible we can make 100K look like a 100 dollar bill if we have the turn out of ppl.
Ill be doing it for me anyway to fund my stuff but im a bit slow doing it right now trying to do my taxes which are a fucking shit show every year lol. Im not talking about this year its a few years ago since I never owe money bc i plan very well with my back pain i just let it go now i need to do it as its the final deadline lol.
Just putting this out there again as a way to if we wanted 100K even we could just get that pretty easily if we have the turn out and can be organized. If ppl do it i bet they wont stop and that would be great for the whole ecosystem bc it would plow money in.
Fun fact i got board and came across chat gpt and decided to fuck with it and it actually will put decks to gather haven't tried them yet but its hilarious
